How To Map A Network Drive On A Mac

This quick step guide will show you how to connect to a network drive on a Mac.

  • Launch Finder
  • At the top of the screen select “Go” and click on “Connect to Server”

  • Enter the server address which will be something like smb://
  • Press the plus button to add it to favourite servers and click Connect

  • Enter the username and password required to access these files. You can click the option to remember this password in my keychain if needed.
  • Click Connect again
  • If you open a Finder window, you’ll now see the mounted network drive under “locations”
  • If you would like quick access to a specific folder in the mounted drive then go into the mounted drive, navigate to the folder, right-click and select “Make Alias”.

A shortcut to this folder will be visible on your desktop. You can use this shortcut to go straight to this location whenever you’ve got the network drive mounted.
